Juuou Mujin no Fafnir

This was a little bland, and the ending was such a disappointment. I mean, there was one twist that could lead on to a second season, but the series itself had no unique selling point. Now that's a business term I never thought I would use in real life.

"With the sudden appearance of the monsters that came to be called Dragons, the world had completely changed. Before long, within the human race supernatural girls with the power of the dragons, called "D," were born. The secret existence of the only male "D," the boy Mononobe Yuu, was forcefully thrown into the school where the girls of "D" gathered—Midgar, where he saw the naked body of one of the students, Iris. Furthermore, meeting his long-lost sister Mitsuki, Yuu seems to have been enrolled into this school...?! "When there's really no other choice, Iris, I will—kill you." "Can I really... believe you?" The curtains open as the "one and only story" about the boy who was supposed to become the strongest assassin and the incompetent girl unfolds—! Unlimited School Battle Action!" ~ AnimeUltima.
Iris and Yuu.

I mean, even the description doesn't make much sense. And it destroys the first episode.
I can't even write a proper review. It was like every other harem out there, it had Dragons which were in another series this season, it's a harem like everything else. It contains family, a little drama, unwanted girlfriends/wives, nakedness, a poorly shown plot twist and it's set in a school.

I would love to hear from those of you who liked the series o contact me to issue a better review, but I just cannot write one like this.
Mitsuki.

I apologise.

I like the cute girls.

Bye.

Death Parade

To me, this was the catchiest intro to an anime this season. I literally can't get it out of my head whenever I think about it, even now. *Boom, boom, boom, dancing through the skies* Just listen to it. :)
The cast.

It's dark and it's entertaining.
The show is about being judged once you die, so characters appear in a bar named Quindecim and are asked to play a game. The actions of the person, as well as the outcome of the game, determine where that person goes after death. But, they don't know they are dead.
Not every episode is about those who die though, we learn about those who work in Quindecim (Arbiters) and why they exist.
I'm not doing this anime any justice.
Decim and the unnamed girl.

It's touching when you go on a journey with the Arbiters and learn about their ways, and the ending is so emotional. So characters are so annoying that they irritated me, and some I loved even though their motives were unjustified. You can connect with a guest in each episode, and you can understand why they do the things they do.

It also teaches us to not take our life for granted and to fulfil it as much as we can a life can be short. What anime actively teaches you things? (Besides the medical one I am currently watching?)
Nona.

A couple of scenes are a little gross, but it's not over-bearing and contains enough blood for the gore-lovers not to be too disappointed. The intro is really happy compared with the content and I love the change of pace. So give it a try.

[There was a 'pilot' for this season published in Anime Mirai 2013, under the title of Death Billiards and I highly recommend this too.]

Yuri Kuma Arashi (Lily Bear Storm)

This was so confusing. Like, really confusing.

For the first few episodes, I didn't have a clue what was going on but continued watching because the concept was different. The entire anime is a metaphor. And I liked that even though it took me a while to understand before I read a comment which explained it without containing spoilers.
At first, I thought this would be a children's anime based on the art style and the use of animals and humans, but I realised this was not the case in some later scenes.
Lulu, Ginko and Kureha. Two bears in the background.

"Some time ago, the asteroid Kumaria exploded in the depths of space. The resulting fragments became a meteor shower that rained down on Earth, and for some reason, bears all over the world rose up and attacked humanity! In "Man vs. Bear," the bears ate the humans and the humans shot the bears, resulting in a seemingly unending battle and a cycle of hatred. In the end, a giant "Wall of Extinction [Severance]" was erected between the humans and bears and a state of mutual nonaggression came to pass... The human world. One morning, Arashigaoka Academy students Kureha Tsubaki and Sumika Izumino were by themselves and saw the "Yuri Flower" that bloomed in a flower bed. The two are friends as well as lovers. The flower bed is an important place to the two. At that moment, the Bear Alarms ring out! The bears are invading the human world, and humans are being attacked! Are they really those bears? One mystery invokes yet another mystery, one after another. The curtain rises magnificently on Yuri Kuma Arashi!" ~ AnimeUltima.

The ending is absolutely beautiful, and I still don't know why they used bears in this, as it would be much more obvious without them, but it helps move the story along. The 'Invisible Storm' and the school represent society, but that's the only spoiler I will give you.

Take a look, and if you understand, I know you will like it too.
And for you perverts out there, I'm afraid the characters are sometimes scantily clad, and sometimes fully nude although you won't really see anything.
Listen to the opening song for clues as to the story line.

Junketsu no Maria (Maria the Virgin Witch)

Oh this was funny. To begin with.

I feel that this lost its comedic value nearer the end and became a little too serious.

It's a great story surrounding the life of a witch, and you guessed her name, Maria. She is a virgin, much to everyone's surprise, and spends her time trying to stop the war between England and France, but makes enemies along the way. Who in their right mind would oppose world peace? The people from this historical anime. Anyway, she gets in trouble with Heaven and consequences are set for when she uses her magic.

It's a little bit sexy, and is full of drama. Obviously magic plays a huge part too.

I challenge you to give it the 3 episode rule. If you don't like it by then, let me know what you thought.

The ending was a bit too religious and it didn't really give any room for a second season, which is a shame as I would like to know how she copes next. But always watch past the credits, as you may miss something.

Unconditional love,
Cazzie x

P.S I know I didn't write much, but writing reviews without spoilers is really hard and I'm tired.

Cross Ange: Tenshi to Ryuu no Rondo (Cross Ange: Angel and Dragon of Rondo)

The is the second and last 24 episode series I have watched from last season.

Cross Ange follows a princess named Ange, who finds out that she is not like other humans and is what she was taught to despise. Once it is discovered, she is sent away with other 'Normas' (humans who cannot use the power of Mana) and her new life begins. As a stuck up princess, how will she cope with having to be treated with less that human standards and fighting DRAGONS? Does she cope or does the anime follow another character? You'll have to watch to find out.

Ange's life becomes totally different and her character development starts early on. It's easy to love her right from the start as you see her traits and ignorance to the world, and her reaction when learns the truth. This is truly beautiful, and the pasts of other characters are explained enough for you to understand their circumstances, but not too much so as to get distracted.

The title of the anime does get explained, and if you watch the little bits after each episode, even the 'Cross Ange' part is quickly explained. Even the 'rondo' part makes sense if you know the meaning of the word (I was just about to criticise it when I looked up the meaning and realised that it is also relevant).

I don't know what to say without turning into a total fangirl and spoiling much of the plot for you. But seriously, one character has two different names, one for her past and one for the present. Only Ange asks her outright about it (not about the name change, but her past self), but the other girls never acknowledge the difference and then freely switch between the names right at the end with no explanation. Did they know all along?

I really recommend it. There's drama and action, along with some comedy so that it doesn't feel too dark. The large number of characters seems alright, and except from the beginning, they aren't fleeting and crop up later in the anime.  It has an amazing storyline and if you think you know the entire plot from the beginning, be warned as there are some twists.

Anyway, unconditional love to all of you,
Cazzie x

Tokyo Ghoul √A

Hey look, everything is ending around the same time and I'm not keeping up fast enough. Anyway....

This is the second season to Tokyo Ghoul, which was amazing the last time around, however nothing seems to be explained as much this time around. My understanding of this season has come from the comments of other viewers who have read the manga.
Kaneki.

More information is needed on the creation of some ghouls, this season showed a set of twins who appear human in flashbacks, but were turned into ghouls. How? I have no idea. But more 'one-eye's appear, which implies that they're half human or turned ghouls.

With new characters and many twists and turns, I do recommend it. Even though I haven't read the manga, it was still entertaining but I recommend reading to fully understand what is going on.
If you miss Mado from the previous season, then do not fret. He is spoken about frequently and his daughter has joined the force and partners up with Amon. So that's good news.
Juuzo is probably my favourite character this season.

Kaneki's white hair from the end of last season is still present, showing how the effects of his capture are lasting and ever-present.

I don't know what else to say, besides a season three is in the pipeline and I've heard that is should be following the manga just as much as these previous seasons.

Kantai Collection: KanColle

There's something about this anime that took me a while to understand, especially as I hadn't played the game in which this is based. All the girls are ships. Actual battle ships. And there are no guys what-so-ever.

I started the series without a clue as to what would happen, and there was no synopsis that I could find at the time, besides mentioning that it is a TV adaptation of an online card game.
The story follows Fubuki, a new destroyer ship sent into the action packed world of war. That's what it seems to me. Think of each girl as a battleship on water, they need to be repaired and upgraded, and they have weapons attached to them (though not all of the time). And if they sink, they basically die.
Fubuki is new to all of this, she's never been in battle before and so she's really nervous. But the show follows her journey of determination and motivation (two things I lack) to become better and join her idol in a specific group based on rank.

YOU are in this anime. Well, you are the Admiral, like you would be if you played the game, you are the over-seer of everything that goes on. You also appear to be calling the shots and deciding who goes where and who attacks the enemy. However, screaming at your screen will not change the outcome of the anime (I wish it did though).

This explains it better:
"Set in a world where humanity has lost control of the oceans to the "deep sea fleet," the only hope to counter this threat are the Kanmusu, a group of girls who possess the spirit of Japanese warships. The story revolves around Fubuki, a destroyer who comes to the Chinjufu base to train with other Kanmusu. Watch as their stories unfold!" ~ MyAnimeList and CrunchyRoll.
Fubuki game card on CrunchyRoll.

I don't know if I like this or not, there was something about it that made me want to watch the new episode each week, but I also feel that I could have dropped it at any moment if I really wanted to. I was just intrigued at the style this anime took, by involving the viewer. This made me want to watch it, and now I want to see what is in store for the second season which has been promised, even without a date.
Anyway I will leave it here for now.

Kuroshitsuji: Book of Murder

It has finally been released with English subs!!!!

I watched this earlier in the week, following a phone call one evening to let my sister know that it is now out after months and months of waiting.

It's clever, and witty. You wouldn't expect anything less from Black Butler, and it is as good as the rest.

So this arc takes place after season's one and three, but before two. I only say this knowing that season three takes place during season one's Curry Contest, and there is a short reference to the events of season three. The movie (as I thought it was going to be) is covered as two one-hour long OVAs, investigating a murder in Ciel's own home.

The plot thickens when more than one murder takes place, but can the guests, Ciel and his staff solve the mystery in time. And who is Reverend Jeremy?

Think of this as the black butler version of Cluedo. Various clues point to different people, but it's all about the alibi. Who do you think did it?

Don't forget to watch it to the very end, as secrets are revealed.

I will say this expecting someone to be offended. EVERY TRUE FAN WILL HAVE TO WATCH IT, or Sebby will come after you.

I was really upset that Grell didn't make an appearance once, well, none of the Reapers did. Ah well, my love for Grell will have to wait.

Absolute Duo

"After losing a loved one, Tooru Kokonoe enrolls at Kouryou Academy so as to gain a "Blaze," a weapon that is his soul manifestation, for the sake of revenge. He was expecting a weapon... What he got was a shield... How is he to seek revenge with something that isn't even a weapon?!" - Anime Ultima.

On the first day of a special school, Tooru meets an innocent looking girl and is instantly intrigued. Sounds like every school anime, you say? Well... It is. Kinda. It has loads of action but it is also harem based too.
Tomoe and Julie
Tor (Tooru) and Julie both have dark pasts, and they seek revenge for it, but everyone at this school seems to have a reason to be here. Many have a background in martial arts, and in the first day, they are told to fight each other.
The school has a dark reason for even existing, which is only touched on in the middle and a small explanation is given at the end.

I liked it, there are enough answers to be satisfied with the anime's existence but there are still enough questions for a season two to come out.  It's not as pervy as some anime's to the point of being annoying, and the plot is both cliché and intriguing. However, like with a lot of anime recently (possible due to my own personal circumstances) I have not felt upset if I don't watch the latest episode straight away. The art style appear to be cute and aimed at a younger audience to begin with, but you quickly realise this is not the case and it is not suitable for your four year old niece.
Tor and Julie

There are plenty of busty girls to go around, even the teacher is a little unorthodox in her appearance and teaching style. But it is worth the watch. High School of the Dead is the closest anime I can think of right now, so I highly recommend this if you've seen that.

Shinmai Maou no Testament (Testament of Sister New Devil)

The season starts off a little like a normal harem, but then a series of 'lies' occur and secrets are revealed by the end of the second episode which makes you feel sorry for the characters.

Shinmai Maou is a series about a boy, Basara,  who lives with his father and finds out that he is soon to have a new sister. "Hey, you said you wanted a little sister, right?" Basara then has to deal with his fathers news of getting remarried. What makes the story even better is how his new sisters are a succubi and a young Demon Lord. With various demons attacking his new sister, Mio, Basara learns what it is to be a brother and in the centre of a harem.
The character development is amazing, and there's absolutely no confusion over what is going on. The main characters appearance is explained soon enough and his new family grow together.

It's kinky, it's taboo, demons, monsters, heroes, sexy girls and intimate scenes. If you're into all this, and maybe even KissxSis or Highschool DxD then this is definitely for you.

Check it out and you won't be disappointed.

Bonjour♪ Koiaji Pâtisserie

This is the first time I've ever watched a five minute anime. I'm open to new experiences but this was a little too strange for me to follow, even with 24 episodes.

This story follows Sayuri in her year at a school specialising in making sweets of every variety. It follows her oh-so complicated relationships between fellow classmates and the handsome male teachers in her academy. There are parts that I couldn't grasp, and the storyline moves fairly quickly, but I could do with fewer and longer episodes as opposed to this.

The comments in reaction to this, according to one site I watch anime on, are extremely positive and I can see the appeal.

If you like cute programmes revolving around gorgeous men, adorable girls and lots of sweets, chocolate and cake, you should really watch this. At least give it a try.

So, with short episodes comes a short review, with more to follow as this season draws to an end.

Hakkenden: Touhou Hakken Ibun (Seasons 1 & 2)

How can something be so beautiful and so sad at the same time?

These two series follow on from each other fairly well, and even the episode number (in the anime, not as listed) follows on in ascending order. It's as though the series was supposed to be one long one, but they decided to put it in two halves (I have not read up on this, nor know the actual reason behind this decision).
Shino.
The story follows Shino, an apparent pre-pubescent boy, and his childhood friends, Sousuke and Hamaji. They were orphaned due to a terrible incident in their village five years prior, and stuck together as family, the only survivors. With strange ties to the church, a lack of memories of the past and demonic powers, this story covers it all. Some things are not even revealed until the very end, so it has plenty of questions to keep you watching.
Hamaji.
I found it really intriguing, there are hints to keep you guessing but it is also pleasant to watch by just going with the flow and not thinking too much. I would also call this a casual anime, you get obsessed with watching it, but you don't feel the need to watch every episode in succession (it came out a year or two ago, so I watched it when I had the time, instead of making time for it).
Sousuke fighting himself/ other half.
If you liked Spirited Away, Fruits Basket, or any other anime with spirits, demons and all things legendary, then check this out. You won't regret it, that is my personal guarantee.

Trinity Seven

Probably the worst anime I watched this season, not for the storyline, but purely for the ending. Like, I just went to check on extra episodes and remembered that it is finished. I only watched the last episode a couple of hours ago. It needs and better ending, I feel like there are too many questions left. Like, [SPOILER] was that really his cousin or is she made up and his memories manipulated? Either way, it wasn't explained properly, maybe it was the subs, but it was probably the story.
"Everyday is a normal day in the small town where Kasuga Arata lives; however, everything changed on the day of the Black Sun, and following it, a magician appears before him. The Black Sun caused the Breakdown Phenomenon which destroyed the town where he lives. Because of this, his normal life was artificially reconstructed by a Grimoire that his childhood friend had left. Just what is the purpose of the magician coming to the town? What will he do with the Grimoire's keepsake?" (animeultima.tv)

Everything was coincidental, as expected, and Arata is the typical pervy schoolboy. Suddenly he gets landed in a school of female mages and his life changes forever. Not only is he clueless about his new life, but he is also extremely powerful.

Don't get me wrong, the series was great, panty shots actually fit the story and I liked it. But the ending ruined it. Go check it out and see how much you like it.

Unconditional love,
Cazzie x

Grisaia no Kajitsu (Fruit of Grisaia)

NO, THIS CAN'T BE OVER!!!!

This is a series that I loved so much this season, and I am truly sad to see it go. Apparently there is a second season, so I will be eagerly awaiting this. It was a Visual Novel first, so I need to read that now, and if anyone knows where I can find it, please let me know.

"Mihama Academy—on the surface, a closed learning environment established to nurture students who find themselves at odds with the world around them; in actuality, an orchard-cum-prison built to preserve fruit that has fallen too far from its tree. Whatever the circumstances behind its establishment, Mihama Academy is at present home to five female students, all with their own reasons for "enrollment." For better or worse, each girl has established a routine obliging of her current situation; life moves at an idle, yet accommodating pace within the walls of Mihama. Yet with the arrival of the institute's first male student, the nearly preposterously opaque Kazami Yuuji, the students at Mihama begin to fall out of step with their predetermined rhythms. Will Yuuji prove to be the element the girls around him needed to take hold of their lives once more, or will the weight of their pasts prove too steep a wall to overcome? And in the first place, just who is Kazami Yuuji? While the true nature of the "job" he is wont to alight to at the most haphazard of moments remains shrouded in secrecy, one thing is for certain—his encroachment upon the quiet orchard known as Mihama Academy will prove itself momentous in one way or another. And of course, one cannot discount the possibility that perhaps Yuuji himself carries the weightiest past of any of the students..." (From animeultima.tv)

Even after watching this, I am not too sure of what is was truly about, but it was entertaining. I love how less than halfway through the series, we begin to find out why the girls are at this school, or in better words, what is wrong with their past. The last 'story' is the longest, spanning 3 or 4 episodes but it is very in depth and quite emotional. It's not a  mystery that you can simply predict, but little hints here and there are provided (not enough to piece anything together) but the full story is explained. Yuuji's story is interwoven and explained piece by piece throughout the series.

The title is subtle yet truthful to the series, where the girls have fallen too far from the tree in which they were grown, they are not doing or being what is expected of them.

I really do recommend this series, if you do not watch anything else from this season, this is the one. I don't want to spoil any of the series, so I shall stop here.

Unconditional love,

Ookami Shoujo to Kuro Ouji (Wolf Girl and Black Prince)

I haven't posted over Christmas as I went to see family for the week, which means I caught up on my anime today and I am writing the posts now (they will be uploaded over a couple of days).

Firstly, this is the most beautiful ending to a series I have seen in a while, no loose ends, no real questions (that bothered me) and it all wrapped itself up nicely. Being a comedy and reading the synopsis before starting the series, I was skeptical.

"The story centers around Erika Shinohara, a vain 16-year-old girl who tells her friends about her romantic exploits, but she actually has no boyfriend. She claims that a handsome boy in a candid photo is her boyfriend, but it turns out that boy is a schoolmate named Kyouya Sata. She has no choice but to make him her fake boyfriend. Unfortunately, Sata may look like a sweet person, but he is actually an ultra-black-hearted sadist. Sata takes advantage of Erika's weakness and treats her like his dog." (From animeultima.tv)

It reminded me of the film Easy A with Emma Stone, except Erica wanted everyone to know about her fake boyfriend. She is really relatable, in some aspects, but is a typical girl. She wants to impress some new friends, and her lie just gets bigger and bigger, but I found that even though she is the main character, the story actually focuses more on Sata. He is the heartthrob of the school, and every girl wants him, but he is not interested in anyone.

If you want to watch a light hearted comedy, with plenty of character development, this is for you. Also watch if you like Baka no Test, shame there's no cross-dressing though.

Happy Watching.

This is not a review :O

So, I know I said that I will be focusing on my studies, at least for the next few months. I seems that I lied to myself. I have found myself playing The Sims 3 and 4 on multiple occasions, watching anime and simply going out.
Sims 4

I've started four new series: Ookami Shoujo to Kuro Ouji, Trinity Seven, Cross Ange: Tenshi to Ryuu no Rondo, and Grisaia no Kajitsu. One of these is a normal length series of around 25 episodes, but you can expect the other reviews around Christmas (I guess that's when they end).
Cross Ange

Not only have I been watching anime, but Grimm, The Big Bang Theory, The Simpsons, American Horror Story and Marvel's Agents of SHIELD are also back on TV. Well, I don't have a TV but Netflix and Amazon are quite useful here. If I can't find them there, there are always Google Searches.
That's all for a quick update from me.

Tokyo ESP

Ok, so it's taken me a while to watch the last two episodes and write this up.

The first episode is confusing, it shows a city in utter chaos, and the citizens only hope has been locked up due to some law. The second episode starts the story from the beginning, explaining many aspects, good and bad, leading up to the destruction of the town. Somewhere near the end of the series, you realise where the first episode roughly slots in.

There were parts that made me gasp, some where I cringed, and others that almost brought happy tears to my eyes. However, it isn't as interesting as some series that I have watched. In my sister's words, 'We've set a high standard for anime early on, so watching good anime isn't as amazing as others e have watched.' I think she sums it up quite well, we started off with recommendations of series that people have absolutely loved, and then expected all anime to be that good. In truth, not everything is, and it is obvious which ones I like the most by the way I write the review.

If you enjoy watching dark anime such as Tokyo Ghoul, this is great. The themes vary but the storyline stays on track, which is damn helpful.

I'm sorry I've gotten worse at writing these reviews, but you can see why. This was a good series, but not a mindblowingly amazing series. I realised when I moved address and didn't feel like I was missing the series because I didn't have internet for a week. It's something to pass the time, but not something to obsess over.

This is just my opinion, and I may be less interested because my university life has gotten hectic and I'm prioritising my work over leisure. I probably won't be watching any or many series this winter, so don't expect any major posts until after Easter, when my course is drawing to an end.

Tokyo Ghoul

THAT ENDING!!!

I need a new season and soon.

So I've realised that the anime I've watched this season all have shocking or rushed endings, and this was a tiny bit of both. Mostly shocking. And so fricking badass!

So, based on the title, take a guess at what this anime is about.
Ghouls in Tokyo?  You're right.
I hate this guy...

So ghouls are born as they are, a separate race from the humans, who live solely on human flesh.
Mini spoiler: Their bodies reject human food.
Humans do not turn into ghouls, and ghouls do not turn into people, but they can pretend to be human and live amongst them. Ghouls almost live in fear of humans, so they blend in and do not let humans know they are ghouls. (Was that a bit repetitive?) So what happens when a human is interested in dating a ghoul? Watch this and find out.

This dark, action anime presents you with the life of Kaneki, a human, living in Tokyo. If you're fine with blood, enjoy action scenes and plenty of rivals, you should give this a chance. Admittedly it gets darker the further in the series it gets, but I liked that about it.

I really don't know what to say without giving away the storyline. The storyline itself is pretty basic but the design and the way it is told is what makes it amazing. I shall just leave you with some images instead.

DRAMAtical Murder

I... I... How do I explain this?

Is the title relevant? Vaguely.
Was it good? God YES.

This anime follows the life of one particular character, Aoba Seragaki, a few years after a tragic accident. He lost his memories but still appears to continue his life as normal. He has a pet Allmate, Ren, who accompanies him everywhere, and a series of friends who seem to know more than they let on. Raised by his witty Gran, Aoba isn't as normal as everyone around him, but he doesn't realise that all his friends seem to have secret lives too.

If you can get past the strange names, ie, Clear, Noiz, Virus, then you should at least give this a try. I watched it with my sister and she got confused in the first few episodes but I found it pretty self-explanatory.

Ok, so this anime had so much potential and I really did love it. There's a bit of intrigue and mystery to keep you hooked. Unusual characters crop up and have great backstories (like, seriously? I don't think any of the main characters can be called normal). And this is what I loved. But the last 2 episodes crammed so much into them, the season should have been a bit longer. And the ending :O I hadn't played the game and reading the comments literally explained the last few minutes of the anime for me. Honestly, the last episode ruined it for me, but that shouldn't put you off watching it. It actually answers questions, unlike some seasons I have watched.

Best thing is, I've heard there is a second season coming out soon, so maybe that won't rush the ending. Anyway, it's taken me 3 days to attempt to write this and I really should get on with my university work (the last year is so intensive and I intend to keep on top of things even better than last year).
